Giovanna Carini’s “lovely rich middle” (Opera Canada) and “clear as a bell soprano” (Echo Germanica) has won her numerous awards and scholarships in various competitions including Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Competition, finalist in Jeunesses Musicales Canadian Lyric Competition and a full scholarship to attend the Maggio Musicale Emerging Artist Program in Florence, Italy.

Operatic roles include Rosina in Barber of Seville and Contessa di Folleville in Il Viaggio a Reims at the Teatro Romano di Fiesole, Miss. Wordsworth in Albert Herring at the Teatro Rendano Cosenza,  Amina in La Sonnambula with the Teatro di Bologna, Violetta in La Traviata, cover in Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Brampton Lyric Opera, Opera Kitchener, Michaela in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the Countess in Marriage of Figaro with Opera York and notably, La Voce dal Cielo in Verdi’s Don Carlo with the highly esteemed Zubin Mehta at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Italy. Noteworthy concerts include performing Vivaldi’s Gloria at Roy Thomson Hall with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a solo recital of operatic arias in Siena, Italy at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, highlights of La Traviata with Rolando Panerai in Florence, Italy as well as excerpts of La Boheme with Ermanno Mauro at the Boris Brott Music Festival.
